Across the country of Spain, ‘Operation Buho; has netted 24 arrests in a country wide crack down against copyright infringement. Of those detained, most are allegedly linked to a network of people offering pirated software pre-installed in hardware currently being sold in shops in part an alleged piracy ring worth an estimated 200,000 euro. National Police conducting the raids and credited for the arrests say their investigation covered some 14 companies and staged 11 search warrants across the country of Spain. Of these companies, 2 in Madrid, 3 in Andalucia, 2 in Murcia, and 4 in Barcelona according to police. The police also suggest some 750 or so products sold on DVD and CD are involved in the fraud actions. Police went on to suggest some form of a ‘malware’ application is also installed via these same fraudsters. No further details were available pending court action. |
